I’m a Woman so I Should only Write from a Woman’s POV

I’ve heard this in a few writers training courses now and I don’t know about you guys, but I firmly say;

Facq no!

Each story that inches its way to the surface often has its own voice that needs to come with the tale.

And besides, don’t we all have our masculine and feminine sides.

The important part is to ensure the voice sounds right, the inner dialogue cannot be the same for each character, regardless of their sex, otherwise writing stories is just cookie cutting the same ideas/philosophies/or internal struggles.

So write the story, no matter what character wants to tell the story. Just be sure to do a little research along the way 😉
