I struggled with even figuring out what genre I was in the beginning. I had to do lots of research discerning genres, word counts, age ranges, etc. I realize fantasy is a huge genre, and Sci Fi has a much more narrow and committed followers, and horror scares me when I write it but I like creepy dark things and ghosts and ghouls and strange creatures.

I don’t like killing characters. They may be valuable in a future novel. Besides, I saw a movie about a writer that killed off characters and it didn’t end well for the writer, so I just don’t do it 🤷‍♀️

I despise sex in novels. Especially audio books, I can scan past pages of unsolicited porn in the books but when it’s read aloud in an audio book there is no escaping (except for 30 second fast forward at a time where lewd words sneak out between the skipping paragraphs.

So I don’t write that in my books either! I have, but I don’t like my name being attached to such a personal inner world. I mean, I may or may not have started another pen name to cover spicy writing but truly I don’t like putting my time there at all!

So I identify as a dark fantasy writer, but actually what I want to say is:

I’m a light horror, young reader fantasy writer.

Maybe I’ll even make an acronym!

LHYRF 😁
