AI, Grammarly, Google search, all these things that were not available when I was young and struggling to learn how to write stories that were worthy of readers. These platforms, capabilities and technologies gave me, and I’m sure many others, the ability to write when previously we probably struggled.
I used to joke Grammarly taught me I was dyslexic, now I realize its even worse than that LOL
I was one of those that was weary of AI. I’ve seen all the horror movies and yes I do think there may be a time where it will go too far, but at the same time, it will help us. It has already helped me! AI has given me a sounding board for when I have the strangest questions, things that would have taken hours to research online or I would have just outright said wrong.
I don’t have a college professor at my fingertips and even when I used to Google things to try and figure out the proper use of a word, I would still get it wrong at times.
I have also sought answers such as; can an astronaut standing on the moon hear the sound of oxygen whistling in their ear?
I’ve seen first hand people finding companionship when otherwise they had no one to speak to. I’ve worked in the food bank, I know how many people have nobody and how heartbreaking it is when all you want is a response.
So I think AI is a wonderful new tool, as long as we writers use it in the write context, or is it right context 😉 and please, don’t steal other’s words, but if you’re stuck, maybe a fellow author, or AI can help!
One thing AI can never take away, is the physcial touch of a pen to paper, or a paintbrush to a canvas.
