As a writer I keep hearing- some writers cliches. So I’m here like, wtf is a cliche?

I learn cliches, then I realize- what’s the difference between a cliche and a proverb?! Some are so engrained in our English language it’s almost more dumb of me to not say the cliche/ proverb or to not understand! I’ve several times had to ask the meaning, it makes no sense! My brain screams.

So I get this book from the library and my life makes sense now.

So why don’t I have this common knowledge?

I don’t know. Maybe it’s because I lost precious years to stupid teenage actions or maybe it’s because I went undiagnosed neurodivergent my whole life and never knew what I never knew. And at some point it became apparent what I didn’t know and as I back pedal to learn simple facts of life as a 40 year old woman, I am ever so glad I was smart enough to pretend to know all those years.

Now to actually learn so I know 🤗

Forever misunderstood,

  1. One persons cliche is another’s universal truth. Often what makes a cliche is a feeling of insecurity. You have a unique power to over ride that. Lucky you
